Materials & Sustainability

A closer look at our materials, evaluation process and approach to responsible manufacturing
What is your selection criterion for materials?
Our material partners have been carefully selected based on their alignment with conscious design, the high performance of their material, their ability to scale and match demand as needed and certifications and test results that ensure they surpass surface-level sustainability claims.
We’ve partnered with some of the best plant-based and next-generation material innovators in India who bring together cutting-edge material science to create materials that are wonderfully suited for premium-conscious products.
We text them extensively, over months, with each of them to understand their limitations, USPs, and performance standards. In addition, we evaluate them on their ability to meet scale production and on their technical reports and lab certifications.
All materials that you see in our material library carry multiple certifications, including USDA Biobased, REACH and PETA. Our materials library is the best place to view the individual certificates and details for each material.
Supply chain transparency at Clima means full visibility into how and where a product is made, from raw materials to final production.
We enable this through structured material data, supplier-level tracking, and clear documentation, so every product is backed by verifiable information and credible claims.
While we primarily support world-class material innovation from India, we also work with global innovators. If you are working on an innovation and want real-time feedback, or would like us to work with a material not currently listed in our library, do reach out to us, and we’d love to see how we can make it happen.
If you’re a material innovator, you can reach out to us through our Start a Project or Contact Us form with basic details about your material.
Our team will review its composition, performance, and potential applications, and if aligned, we’d love to call in for some samples for testing and explore opportunities to integrate it into design, sampling, and production with our partner brands.
At Clima, sustainability is shaped by two perspectives – one rooted in craftsmanship and durability, the other in material innovation and climate impact.
We see sustainability not as a claim, but as a filter applied to every decision – from materials and design to manufacturing and scale – guided by a constant question: is there a better way to do this?
You can read more about this in our Sustainability Manifesto.
